We are in active product development and moving quickly.

The Role

• We are looking for a full-stack engineer who can own features end-to-end — from database schema through REST API to Next.js UI. You will work across a Turborepo monorepo containing a Fastify 5 API, a Next.js 16 storefront, and a suite of shared TypeScript packages. The codebase is TypeScript-strict, validated with Zod throughout, and backed by Supabase (PostgreSQL + Auth).

  You will be one of the early engineers shaping both the product and the engineering culture, so strong opinions held loosely and a bias for shipping are important.

What You Will Work On

• Build and extend core commerce modules — catalogue, cart, orders, promotions, notifications, and vendor management — as the platform grows beyond its Wave 1 foundation.

• Own REST API routes in Fastify 5: schema validation (Zod), JWT/cookie-based authentication, rate limiting, and Swagger/OpenAPI documentation.

• Write and maintain Supabase SQL migrations; design tables, enums, RLS policies, and DB-level constraints that enforce business rules.

• Integrate third-party services in the stack: Razorpay for payments (including webhook handling), Algolia for search, and Upstash Redis for caching and session data.

• Build React components and pages in Next.js 16 using TanStack Query for server-state management and Tailwind CSS for styling.

• Contribute to shared packages — @stymo/types (Zod schemas), @stymo/db (Supabase client), and @stymo/ui (component library).

• Write unit and integration tests with Vitest; maintain coverage on critical paths such as authentication, checkout, and payment flows.

• Implement compliance requirements under the DPDP Act 2023: data minimisation, consent records, IP masking, and session-cookie security.

• Backend: Node.js ≥20, TypeScript (strict), Fastify 5, Zod, Vitest

• Database: Supabase (PostgreSQL + Auth), SQL migrations

• Frontend: Next.js 16, React 18, TanStack Query, Tailwind CSS

• Search: Algolia (algoliasearch v5, react-instantsearch)

• Payments: Razorpay (checkout + webhooks)

• Caching: Upstash Redis

• Monorepo: Turborepo, npm workspaces, ESLint, TypeScript strict

Required

• 3–5 years of professional software engineering with production TypeScript or JavaScript systems.

• Solid Node.js backend experience: REST API design, authentication (JWT, cookies, refresh token rotation), and middleware patterns.

• Comfortable writing and reviewing SQL: schema design, indexing, and migrations.

• React and Next.js experience (App Router or Pages Router) — you have built and deployed real user-facing features.

• Familiarity with monorepo tooling (Turborepo, Nx, or similar) and npm/yarn workspaces.

• Experience writing tests with Vitest, Jest, or a comparable framework.

• A habit of treating types and validation as documentation, not overhead.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience with Supabase or another managed PostgreSQL-as-a-service platform.

• Hands-on payment gateway integration (Razorpay, Stripe, or equivalent) including webhook verification.

• Algolia or Elasticsearch experience: index design, faceting, and relevance tuning.

• Knowledge of Indian regulatory requirements — DPDP Act 2023, PCI-DSS basics.

• E-commerce domain knowledge (catalogue, cart, checkout, order management).

• Contribution to or maintenance of a shared component/design-system library.

• Deliver features end-to-end: SQL migration → API route → frontend page, with tests and documentation.

• Participate in code reviews — give and receive feedback focused on correctness, security, and maintainability.

• Collaborate with product and design to clarify requirements before writing a line of code.

• Identify and flag compliance or security implications in product decisions.

• Keep shared packages well-typed and developer-friendly so all teams can rely on them.

• Surface technical debt proactively and help prioritise its resolution alongside feature work.
